Alumni meeting: Programme

Here you find the tentative programme of the alumni meeting. We will update this page whenever new information becomes available, i.e. please come back regularly and check for news and updates. If you have any suggestions or questions regarding the programme, don't hesitate to contact us. Although the Saturday looks quite packed, there will be plenty of time to reminisce about the good old days and talk to your fellow students and colleagues, especially in the late afternoon and evening. We are sure all of you look forward to meeting old friends again.

09:00-10:30	Visit of the Geophysical Institute	Westhochschule, Building 06.42, Hertzstr. 16 Meeting point at 9:00 in front of the GPI.	This is the only event actually taking place at the Geophysical Institute. All other events will take place on the main campus (campus south). Please check our transport and accommodation page for details how to get to this location.

11:15-12:00	Reception and welcome address	Campus south, Gastdozentenhaus, Building 01.52	The champagne reception is kindly sponsored by KIT Alumni.
12:00-13:30	Joint lunch	Campus south, Gastdozentenhaus, Building 01.52
13:30-14:00	Group photo	Campus south, Dept. of Physics, Gaede lecture hall, Building 30.22 Meeting point at 13:30 in front of the lecture hall.	The location obviously depends on the weather. Should the weather be really good, then a photo might be taken outside. The group photo will be distributed at the beginning of the farewell party in the evening.
14:00-15:30	Presentations	Campus south, Dept. of Physics, Gaede lecture hall, Building 30.22	This is a combined event with the GAP participants. Please be on time in order to avoid disturbance during the presentations.
15:30-16:00	Coffee break	Campus south, Dept. of Physics, foyer, Building 30.22	Coffee, tea, and cookies/cakes will be provided.
16:15-17:45	Guided tour of the campus south	Campus south, starting at the main gate	This tour will last approx. 1.5h. No. of participants: max. 26.
19:30-20:30	Group photo collection	Campus south, Dept. of Physics, foyer, Building 30.22	Please pick up your copy of the group photo which was taken in the afternoon.
20:00-?	Farewell party	Campus south, Dept. of Physics, several floors, Building 30.22	This is a combined event with the GAP participants. Drinks and food will be provided.

10:00-12:00	Joint breakfast / brunch	Cafe Böckeler. Kaiserstraße 141, 76133 Karlsruhe	This is an optional alumni meeting event, The costs for this breakfast event are NOT covered by the general fee for the alumni meeting. If you are interested, please get in touch with the organiser.

Please read the following important notes very carefully:

You need to register for various events during our online registration procedure, in particular for the guided tour, the reception, the lunch, and the party. If you haven't registered for a certain event, then there's no guarantee that you will be able to participate. We kindly ask you to register as early as possible as this makes organising such an alumni meeting a lot easier for us. Please click here to start the registration process now.

The registration fee for all events (except the joint breakfast!) will be about 30 EUR and includes the guided tour, the reception, the lunch (food and non-alcoholic beverages), coffee/tea and cookies/cakes during the coffee break, a copy of the group photo, and food and a limited number of drinks during the farewell party. Additional drinks will be sold at cost. We will ask you to pay the general registration fee in advance by bank transfer or PayPal.

Those of you who can't join us for the reception and lunch but would still like to participate the later events have to pay a reduced registration fee of 15 EUR.

Guests (e.g. family members of alumni) are welcome at the reception, lunch, and farewell party. They have to pay a reduced registration fee of 15 EUR. During online registration, each alumna or alumnus can specify the number of guests, i.e. guests don't have to register separately. Please note we can't accommodate guests at other events due to the limited number of seats available. Thank you for your understanding.

Each registered alumni will get a reprint of the group photo. In order to have a nice memento of this day, we would like to ask all alumni (and current members of the Geophysical Institute) to show up for the group photo!

The presentations during the afternoon event will be given by Prof. Dr. Christian Grosse, Dr. Jochen Woessner, Prof. Dr. Thomas Mueller, and Dr. Walter Zuern.
